Foods conference was a great success. Lots of really great ideas
and forward momentum. Great for Coos County and the Earth.
See events schedule The World newspaper is coordinating the Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk events the first Friday of every month during spring, summer and fall. Each event will benefit different local non-profit service and arts organizations. The starting location and participating businesses are all within 4 blocks of The Coos Art Museum and Egyptian Theatre. Participants purchase a wine glass for $10 and get a map to allow them to visit participating businesses between 5-7pm. There are several businesses participating in the event and offering wine samples. This event is intended to bring people out to celebrate all that Downtown Coos Bay has to offer. Our newsletter doesn't come out very often but when it does we will tell you about events happening in the Coos area and volunteer opportunities that we hear about in this geographic area. If you know of a volunteer opportunity or community event please let us know. We will never ask you for monetary donations, but will offer opportunities for you to meet new people, help with fundraising, and help those in need. People that volunteer are the best !! You don't have to volunteer to be on the notification list. When you attend an event you are a supporter of the community. Recurring Public Events/Meetings: 1st Mondays 4:30 - The North Bend Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meets on the first Monday of the month at 4:30 p.m. Meetings are held in the North Bend City Hall council chambers, 835 California, North Bend. This is subject to change and or cancellations. 3rd Mondays 7:00pm - North Bend Planning Commission. Meetings are periodically subject to change or cancellations. Meetings are held in the council chambers of City Hall at 835 California St., North Bend. Tuesdays 6 to 8 p.m. Meditation All are welcome, and instruction will be given. The weekly session will be held at 1506 Monroe Ave., North Bend. For more information, those interested can contact Monica at 756-2042. 1st & 3rd Tuesdays 7:00 p.m. - Coos Bay City Council. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 500 Central Avenue, Coos Bay. The agendas are available on the City's website www.coosbay.org or by contacting Deputy Recorder Joyce Jansen at 541-269-8915 or jjansen@coosbay.org 2nd & 4th Tuesdays 7:30pm - North Bend City Council. 6:00pm -The
National Alliance on Mental Illness
will begin monthly support groups beginning Nov. 8. The meetings will be
held on the second Tuesday of every month at the Nancy Devereux Center, 1200
Newmark Ave., in Coos Bay. There will be a potluck at 6 and a speaker at
6:45 p.m. The speaker on Nov. 8 will be a senior disabled services worker, who
will give information and discuss topics involving special needs trust for
people with disabilities. NAMI Oregon is a nonprofit organization
representing people with mental illness, families, mental health professionals
and concerned citizens. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for all
those who struggle with a mental illness, through support, education and
advocacy. 3rd Tuesdays 6:00pm - Coos Bay Planning Commission. The meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 500 Central Avenue, Coos Bay.
